Pearl Seiden International

The first Pearl Seiden International meeting in Life Sciences: From synthetic biology to discovery and applications will be held at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology from Wednesday morning, December 9th, 2015 to Thursday evening, December 10th, 2015. The program will include invited oral and poster presentations as well as short spotlight presentations from contributed abstracts.

In recent years, biology has become a more quantitative science via the introduction of a vast array of new experimental and computational analysis techniques. Quantitative biological studies have allowed for a much finer understanding of the molecular intricacies of complex biological systems, of their design principles and of their evolution. In parallel, synthetic biology has made rapid advances in developing new molecular tools for re-engineering biological systems, and re-wiring ‘biological circuits”, which provided further crucial insights into the evolution of biological systems.

The meeting aims to bring speakers who use quantitative biological approaches, alongside synthetic biologists to see where synthetic biology approaches can advance quantitative biology research and vice versa. The ultimate goal for this workshop is to foster collaborations which will lead to discovery by finding ways to combine synthetic biology approaches with quantitative research techniques for the cross-fertilization of both disciplines.
